Southport Management is a long/short equity hedge fund manager formed in 2013 by Jonathan Dawson, who previously co-founded Dawson-Herman Capital Management in Connecticut. This firm later spun off Pequot Capital Management in 1998 and Andor Capital Management in 2001.
Jon Dawson is the Managing Member of Southport Management LLC, located in Wilson, Wyoming. In 1981, he founded a registered investment advisory in Southport, CT, and served as its CEO until December 2011. Dawson is active in the community, serving on the executive investment and nominating committees of the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole and on the board of the Special Operations Fund, which provides educational scholarships to the families of fallen special operations soldiers. He co-founded New Beginnings Family Academy, a K-8 charter school in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and is an honorary trustee of Greens Farms Academy and the Quebec Labrador Foundation. Dawson has also served on the boards of the New Hampshire Audubon, the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, and the Montana Chapter of the Nature Conservancy. He holds a B.A. from Princeton University, an M.B.A. from Stanford University, and a J.D. from Fordham University. He was a member of the Connecticut Bar Association from 1975 to 2011.
