Southeastern Asset Management is an American employee-owned global investment management firm founded in 1975 by Mason Hawkins. The firm is the investment advisor to the Longleaf Partners Funds, a suite of mutual and UCITS funds.

Mason Hawkins earned a B.A. in Finance from the University of Florida in 1970 and an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Georgia in 1971. He began his career as Director of Research at Atlantic National Bank in 1973, then held the same position at First Tennessee Investment Management until 1975. That year, Hawkins, along with three partners, founded Southeastern. Two partners left the firm in the 1980s. Since 1989, Hawkins has also served as co-portfolio manager of the Longleaf Partners Small-Cap Fund, named after the durable longleaf pine tree associated with his family's lumber business.
