KG Funds Management's Return, AUM, and Holdings (Part II)
At the end of Q1 2019, the first two positions in KG Funds Management’s portfolio have remained without any changes in shares held compared to the last quarter of 2018.
Founded at the end of 2008, KG Funds Management operates as an event-driven, opportunistic investment partnership specializing in companies and special situations trading at significant discounts to their intrinsic value. The firm prioritizes establishing concentrated, high-conviction positions characterized by calculated risk and potential substantial upside.
Mr. Ike Kier currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer at KG Funds Management LLC and as a Managing Member at Kier Global LLC. Additionally, he holds the position of Chief Executive Officer at Central Park Acquisition I, Inc. and is a Principal at KG Funds Management focusing on private equity. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Caribbean Storage, Inc., Montebello Brand Liquors, Inc., and Capital Lodging Corp. Between 2004 and 2008, Mr. Kier established management groups responsible for four Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (SPACs), collectively raising $200 million from public markets. Each management team successfully completed mergers or acquisitions of their respective targets. After practicing law, Mr. Kier assumed the role of CEO and majority owner of Lida Inc., a family business. Under his leadership, Lida Inc. evolved from a regional fabric supplier in North Carolina to the world's largest producer of cotton/lycra/spandex fabrics, supplying 55% of global consumption and employing 700 employees when the firm went public in 1992. In 1995, he sold the business to a New York-based LBO firm. In 1989, Mr. Kier secured FCC approval to build cellular towers along the I-85 corridor between Montgomery, AL, and Atlanta, GA. He earned his J.D. from George Washington University and holds a B.A. in Economics from Cornell University.
Ilya Zaides, based in New York, NY, US, currently serves as the Founder and Chief Investment Officer at 14B Capital, leveraging extensive experience from prior positions at KG Funds Management LLC, Auda Advisor Associates, Ivy Asset Management, and King & Spalding LLP. Mr. Zaides earned his Doctor of Law (J.D.) from New York University School of Law, completing his studies from 1996 to 1999.
