Kian Ghazi’s Hawkshaw Capital is a long/short equity hedge fund founded in 2003. Ghazi managed to beat the S&P 500 index by early 4 percentage points, returning 6.3% between the end of 2003 and Fall, 2010. For his long positions Ghazi starts his research process by screening for the stocks that are expected to perform the worst. For his shorts he screens for the stocks that are expected to outperform the most. He then do an extensive research on the company. Hawkshaw usually has a very concentrated portfolio with 12-15 stocks and long holding periods. Previously Ghazi worked at Midtown Capital Partners and Lehman Brothers. He holds an MBA degree from the Wharton.
