Established in 2005, Element Capital Management is a New York-based hedge fund manager founded by Jeffrey Talpins. Jeffrey launched the firm while managing the Element Capital Fund at Proxima Alfa Investments. Previously, he served as the head trader of fixed-income options at Citigroup and traded mortgage-backed securities at Goldman Sachs. Jeffrey Talpins is the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Investment Officer, and Founder of Element Capital. Since its inception, under Mr. Talpins' leadership, Element has grown its assets under management from $250 million to approximately $16 billion. The firm's investor base includes some of the world’s largest endowment, pension, and sovereign wealth funds. Before founding the Element Capital Fund in 2005, Mr. Talpins served as the Head Trader of Citigroup’s fixed-income options franchise, managing one of the largest proprietary risk exposures within the company’s capital markets business. Before Citigroup, he began his career at Goldman Sachs, specializing in trading agency mortgage options and pass-through securities. Mr. Talpins graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Yale University in 1997, earning a B.S. with Distinction in Economics and Applied Mathematics.
