Capital Growth Management was founded by Ken Heebner in 1990. It has since enjoyed incredible success. Ken Heebner's Focus fund has a ten-year (2000-2010) cumulative return of 290.2%, compared to the S&P 500's 16.4%. In other words, Ken Heebner is very savvy. In fact, he was one of the few fund managers to pull out of financials investments right before the financial crisis hit. And, he was never affected by the dot-com bubble, because, like Warren Buffett, he simply didn't bet on what he didn't understand.

Ken Heebner is at heart an analyst. People close to Heebner say that he just sees things other people don't - like when in college Heebner asked his classmates to bring him silver dollars in exchange for paper bills, positing, correctly, that silver would keep appreciating to the point that the Treasury would stop issuing silver coins - but Heebner's success is just as likely owed to his strong work ethic.
Ken Heebner's paternal grandfather was a successful farmer - enough so that a town in Pennsylvania, Heebnerville, bears his name - and the work ethic seems to have carried on. Heebner's grades were good enough to take him from Amherst to Harvard, and even today, into his seventies, Heebner still spends most of his time with his mind on the stock market.
