Eliav Assouline and Marc Andersen launched Axial Capital in 2002 after cutting their teeth as investment bankers at Bear Stearns in the late 90's. The pair launched Axial Capital with seeding from Julian Robertson, of Tiger Management fame, and, following suit with other "tiger seeds," Axial Capital is housed at the historic 101 Park Avenue offices. Axial Capital is a short seller fund - meaning that it is filled with a large volume of put positions. However, Axial takes a different approach from other short seller funds - it hedge short positions by being long on major indices (hedge funds usually short major indices to hedge their long positions). The strategy has been successful. Assouline and Andersen were named as two of Institutional Investor's 2010 Rising Stars of Hedge Funds.

And, no wonder. They have the experience as well as the education. Eliav Assouline comes to the table with an MBA from Harvard and an economics degree from Wharton.
Marc Andersen is just as accomplished in his own right. He has a BS in mechanical engineering from Princeton. Their accomplishments could easily make someone think they are much older than they are. But, don't let the length of their experience fool you - both of these fund managers are under 40.
