Boston-based Alydar Capital is a long-short hedge fund managing more than $2 Billion at one point. The fund was founded by John A. Murphy in 2003. Previously John Murphy worked under Lawrence Greenberg at Mt. Everest Fund, which was liquidated in 2002. Greenberg was formerly a fund manager at Fidelity.
Alydar Fund, which has $376 million in AUM (July 2014), lost 2.1% through November 2014 vs. a gain of 15.9% in 2013 and losses of 1.1% and 0.7% in 2012 and 2011 respectively. Its biggest drawdown was 6.5% in 2011. Alydar Fund was launched at the end of February 2003. Alysheba Fund, which has $171 million in AUM, lost 1.1% in 2014 through November, vs. gains of 15.1% in 2013, 2.8% in 2012, and 2.5% in 2011. Alysheba Fund's biggest drawdown was 25.8% in 2008.
