Why These 10 Stocks Are Trending on Wednesday

Although earnings are now in full swing, the markets are relatively quiet this Wednesday with the Dow Jones and the S&P 500 just modestly higher. Among the stocks that are trending include Plug Power Inc. (NASDAQ:PLUG), QUALCOMM Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM), Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM), BlackRock, Inc. (NYSE:BLK), Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL), and SAP SE (NYSE:SAP). Let’s find out why each stock is in the spotlight and how elite funds are positioned among them.

10. Apple Inc. is trending after Bloomberg reported its sources said Apple Inc. could cut iPhone 13 production by as much as 10 million units, or around 11% of its current planned production. Apple Inc. could cut production due to the global chip shortage. Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway owned more than 887.1 million shares of Apple Inc. at the end of June.

9. JPMorgan Chase & Co. is down around 2.6% despite the bank reporting a profit of $3.74 per share for Q3 versus estimates of $3 per share. JPMorgan Chase & Co. CEO Jamie Dimon said the bank’s results were strong despite headwinds from the Delta variant and supply chain difficulties. 8. BlackRock, Inc. has rallied 3.8% after the asset management firm’s adjusted profits of $10.95 per share for the third quarter beat the consensus estimate of $9.35 per share. 7. Delta Air Lines, Inc. shares are down around 6% after the company said it anticipates a modest fourth quarter loss given higher fuel costs. SAP SE has rallied more than 4.7% after the company increased its full year outlook. For the full year, SAP sees operating profit of between €8.1 billion and €8.3 billion, versus the previous range of €7.95 billion to €8.25 billion. SAP SE increased its outlook given more customers are shifting operations to SAP’s cloud. 5. Plug Power Inc. has rallied 12% after Stephen Byrd of Morgan Stanley upgraded the stock to ‘Buy’ from ‘Hold’. Byrd has a $40 price target, up from the previous $35. Plug Power Inc. is also trending due to an announced partnership with Airbus with plans to an airport in the U.S. as the first ‘hydrogen hub’ pilot airport. 34 elite funds in our database were long Plug Power Inc. at the end of June.


4. Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ:HAS) is trending after the company’s former CEO, Brian Goldner, died at 58. Goldner was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2014. The number of elite funds with positions in Hasbro, Inc. fell to 27 at the end of Q2 from 31 at the end of Q1.


3. QUALCOMM Incorporated shares have increased 1.5% after the company announced a $10 billion repurchase program that’s in addition to an existing buyback program of $900 million. QUALCOMM Incorporated has bought back substantial shares in the past. The number of elite funds in our database that were long QUALCOMM Incorporated fell to 72 in the second quarter from 73 in the first quarter.


2. Vimeo, Inc. (NASDAQ:VMEO) shares are up 13.5% after the company announced its total sales in September increased 33% year over year. That’s better than many market estimates. Thrive Capital had a position of more than 5.85 million shares in Vimeo, Inc. at the end of June.

1. Sun Country Airlines Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:SNCY) is down 9.5% after the company announced a stock offering of 8 million shares. The stock offering is from existing shareholders and not the company itself. PAR Capital Management was long more than 2.2 million shares of  Sun Country Airlines Holdings, Inc. at the end of June.
