Some stocks on the move today include Parker-Hannifin Corporation (NYSE:PH), Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:EA), Moderna, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRNA), General Motors Company (NYSE:GM), Etsy, Inc. (NASDAQ:ETSY), Lumen Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:LUMN), and NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA). Let’s find out why each stock is moving and how elite funds were positioned among them.

10. Moderna, Inc. has fallen 18.3% after the company reported third quarter EPS of $7.70, missing the average estimate by $1.41 per share. Sales for the period was $4.97 billion, up 3047.4% year over year, but $1.32 billion under the consensus. For FY22, Moderna, Inc. sees sales of $17 billion to $22 billion versus the consensus of $20.08 billion. Renaissance Technologies owned 3,188,454 shares of Moderna, Inc. at the end of Q2.

9. General Motors Company is up 3.9% as valuations among some leading traditional automakers benefit from the recent rally in Tesla’s stock. Like Tesla, General Motors Company is also investing substantial resources in EVs and autonomous driving. Eagle Capital Management owned more than 12.09 million shares of General Motors Company at the end of June.

8. Etsy, Inc. has risen by more than 15% after the company reported Q3 EPS of $0.62 on revenue of $532.43 million, exceeding the consensus by $0.07 and $13.29 million. For Q4, Etsy, Inc. sees revenue of $660 million to $690 million, versus the average estimate of $689.94 million. Among the elite funds in our database, the largest stake in Etsy Inc was held by Renaissance Technologies, which reported holding $362.9 million worth of stock at the end of June.

7. Lumen Technologies, Inc. has risen 13.5% after reporting third quarter adjusted EPS of $0.49 on sales of $4.89 billion, versus the consensus of $0.38 on sales of $4.9 billion. Lumen Technologies, Inc. also raised its free cash flow view for FY21 to $3.6-$3.8 billion from the previous $3.1-$3.3 billion as the company has cut back on its planned capital expenditures for the year. At the end of June, a total of 33 of the hedge funds tracked by Insider Monkey were long Lumen Technologies, Inc., a change of 3% from one quarter earlier.

6. NVIDIA Corporation has surged by 17.6% after Aaron Rakers of Wells Fargo upped his price target to $320 from $245 while keeping his ‘Overweight’ rating. Rakers expects NVIDIA Corporation to launch the general availability of Omniverse Enterprise at GTC 2021 next week. The analyst is also bullish on NVIDIA Corporation ‘s metaverse opportunity. Ken Fisher’s Fisher Asset Management was long over 4.84 million shares of NVIDIA Corporation at the end of September.

Like Moderna, Inc., General Motors Company, Etsy, Inc., Lumen Technologies, Inc., and NVIDIA Corporation, Parker-Hannifin Corporation, and Electronic Arts Inc. are on the move.

5. Parker-Hannifin Corporation is up over 8.1% after reporting adjusted EPS of $4.26 per share for the first quarter, beating the consensus by $0.56 per share. Revenue rose 16.4% year over year to $3.76 billion, and was $120 million ahead of estimates. For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022, Parker-Hannifin Corporation has adjusted earnings per share guidance of $16.95-$17.65 versus the consensus of $16.89. At the end of June, a total of 42 of the elite funds in our database held long positions in Parker-Hannifin Corporation, a change of -2% from the previous quarter.


4. Electronic Arts Inc. rose over 2.6% after reporting EPS of $1.02 for the second quarter, beating the consensus by $0.45. Bookings rose 103.3% year over year to $1.85 billion, beating the average estimate by $100 million. Electronic Arts Inc.’s net bookings for the trailing twelve months rose 27% year over year to $7.077 billion. Ken Griffin’s Citadel Investment Group was among the elite fund holders of Electronic Arts Inc. at the end of June.


3. The Manitowoc Company, Inc. (NYSE:MTW) fell 11.4% on Thursday after the company reported adjusted EPS of $0.06 on sales of $404.5 million for Q3, missing the average estimate by $0.05 and $52.07 million. For FY21, The Manitowoc Company, Inc. has a revenue view of $1.725 billion to $1.775 billion, down from the previous $1.775 billion to $1.825 billion. D E Shaw was among the elite holders of The Manitowoc Company, Inc. at the end of Q2.


2. Lumentum Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:LITE) has risen 2.3% after reporting fiscal first quarter adjusted EPS of $1.79, exceeding the consensus by $0.24. Sales were $448.4 million, down 0.9% year over year, but $8.45 million ahead of estimates. Lumentum Holdings Inc. is also trending due to the company have entered into an agreement to buy NeoPhotonics Corporation (NYSE:NPTN) for $16 in cash per share subject to customary closing conditions. Fisher Asset Management was long 858,688 shares of Lumentum Holdings Inc. at the end of September.


1. NeoPhotonics Corporation has surged over 38% after the company agreed to sell to Lumentum Holdings Inc. for $16 in cash per share subject to customary closing conditions. The deal is expected to close in the second half of calendar year 2022. Renaissance Technologies was long 2,192,157 shares of NeoPhotonics Corporation at the end of Q2.
