No. 9: LG G2

The successor of the Optimus G, the LG G2, LG Electronics’ latest smartphone, comes complete with a series of new functional and aesthetic features, such as a hi-fi sound system, efficiency improving screen technology, and power and volume keys placed on the rear of the phone.

No. 8: Moto X

Released in August of 2013, the Moto X smartphone is one of the first products released by Motorola since it was bought by Google back in 2012. Although it also uses the Android operating system, Moto X distinguishes itself from competitors through voice recognition functions and contextual awareness features.

No. 7: Galaxy S3

Even though 2013 was the year when Samsung released its critically acclaimed Galaxy S4, its predecessor, the S3 still managed to keep consumers engaged. Even though the S3 lacks some of the super neat, super smart features of the S4, it is considered a rather dependable and proficient smartphone.

No. 6: BlackBerry 10

The advent of touch-screen smartphones somewhat took BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) out of the spotlight, but with the release of its latest model, the BlackBerry 10, it seems like things are starting to look up for the company.

No. 5: Nexus 5

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s attempt at penetrating the smartphone market was pretty successful, judging by how its flagship phone, the Nexus 5 fared out. Although released in late 2013, Nexus 5, dubbed the Hammerhead, managed to get on the top trending smartphones list, showing other mobile manufacturers that there is a new competitor in town.

No. 4: HTC One

Unlike its predecessor, the One X, who was somewhat commercially unsuccessful due to a poor marketing strategy, the HTC One was a much bigger hit amongst consumers. This smartphone has managed to stand out amongst other Android devices and was critically acclaimed worldwide.

No. 3: iPhone 5C

The plastic-case smartphone may be the lower-end counterpart of the iPhone 5S, but it still scored big amongst consumers. The vibrantly colored iPhone 5C was the third most searched for smartphone on Google.

No. 2: Samsung S4

Released in March 2013, Samsung Galaxy S4 was quite popular amongst consumers, becoming the second most searched for smartphone on Google in 2013. Though it retained the design of its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 introduced a series of smart features, such as eye tracking scrolling and smart pausing.
