5. 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO

The 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, as the name suggests, is a Grand Touring car produced for the long duration endurance racing. It is one of the most popular vintage Ferraris. The 250 GTO was designed as a pure play race car that would face off against Aston Martin, the Jaguar E Type, and the Shelby Cobra. The car is capable of 296 bhp power generation, and the car was derived from the original Ferrari 250 Series.
4. Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic

The Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic is the only Bugatti on our list. It is another grand tourer car on our list and also one of the oldest on our list since it was first made in 1934. It is a variant of the Bugatti Type 57, and other variants include Aerolithe, the 57S+, and the 57S Atlantic Coupe with multiple chassis variants. The Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic has a supercharger and was also considered by the son of Bugatti’s founder, also a Bugatti engineer, one of his best creations.
3. 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO 3413GT
Auction Price: $48.4 million
The second most expensive 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO ever sold caught a buyer with a massive price tag of $48.4 million. It was sold at an RM Sotheby auction in Monterrey, California in 2018. Considering that when the car was launched it had a price tag of $18,000, this price marks a significant appreciation. This car has a chassis number of 3413 and is a left hand drive variant and has a special history as it was first driven by the racecar driver Edoardo Lualdi-Gabardi.
2. 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO 4153GT
Auction Price: $70 million
The most expensive 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO ever sold has a price tag of $70 million. It was sold in 2017 at a private auction and became the most expensive car to be sold at the time. The car was bought by the chief executive officer of WeatherTech that makes and sells car floor mats. This car has a chassis number of 4153 and has the unique distinction of winning the Tour de France 1964. The race covered thousands of kilometers, all over France, with numerous hills and other treacherous tracks.
1. 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe
Auction Price: $142 million
While Ferrari might be the most popular car on our list, the honor for the most expensive car ever sold goes to the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe. Only two of these cars were ever built – a special order for the firm’s chief design officer and these were the only road legal variants of the fateful Benz 300 SLR.
