5. Denmark

Crime Index Score: 2.45

Denmark ranks 4th out of 163 countries on the Global Peace Index of 2021, with a score of 1.296, indicating high peacefulness. The total number of homicide cases reported in this country is 55 per 100,000 people, and the most commonly prevalent crime is theft. Because of its generally secure society, Denmark ranks 1st on European countries’ list for ease of doing business and ranks 6th in US News list of countries that are open to business.

4. Norway

Crime Index Score: 2.26

Norway is one of the safest countries in the world with less than 280,000 crimes reported in 2021, and only 29 of them being cases of homicide. This low rate of crime is partly due to strong crime prevention mechanisms, and partly due to the cold, long winters in the country. Norway also has strict regulations in place to restrict gun violence.

  

3. Iceland

Crime Index Score: 2.15

Iceland is one of the top countries with lowest crime rates. For a population of roughly 347,000 people, this country only has 640 police officers, as crime rate in the country is low. While the country has a generally secure environment with only 5 murders reported in 2020, incidents of sexual violence are reported quite often. In 2020, there  were 143 cases of sexual violence for every 100,000 people in the country.

2. Finland

Crime Index Score: 1.81

Like other Scandinavian countries, Finland is a safe and secure country with low crime rates. According to the Finnish Ministry of Interior, approximately 483,000 criminal offenses were reported in 2021, among which, theft, fraud, and traffic violations were the most common.

Crime Index Score: 1.77

Singapore is the one of the safest countries in the world in crime. It has a crime rate of 847 offenses per 100,000 people as of 2021. It has a criminality score of 3.13 and is the 12th most crime-resilient country in the world.
