Total Cocoa Production: 2,200,000 tons

Cocoa production in Ivory Coast is a significant economic driver, employing over five million people and contributing 40% of national export income. However, the sector faces challenges, and Ivory Coast receives a small fraction of the global cocoa industry’s profits despite supplying 40% of the world’s cocoa. Production has grown substantially, with an expected drop due to poor weather conditions. Many Ivorian cocoa farmers live in poverty, earning an average of $0.78 daily, according to Al-Jazeera. The country is emerging as a leader in cocoa processing and may soon surpass the Netherlands in cocoa grinding capacity.
