In September 1998, the Polish Penal Code’s Article 202 made pornography legal. Nonetheless, it is still unlawful to create or possess pornographic materials featuring children, animals (zoophilia), or “scenes of violence or rape.” Giving or displaying sexual materials to those who are younger than 15 is also illegal. Conservative politicians and activists in Poland argue that limiting the use of porn will protect family values and contribute to maintaining peace. Conversely, detractors claim that the law makes no difference. In fact, even law enforcement officials themselves continue to violate the ban on pornography in Poland. Poland is one of the most porn watching countries in the world in 2023.
