Until now, we have covered the top universities in the US, as well as the top higher education institution around the globe. But how about universities in emerging economies? Well, Times Higher Education, the most reputable higher education research agency in the world compiled a list of the best universities in emerging economies, which it released earlier this year. The experts at Times Higher Education took several indicators into account when analyzing and evaluating the schools, such as learning environment, research facilities, research influence, innovations, and international outlook. Based on these indicators, which were worth specific percentages, each university received a score, which was then used for ranking.
A total of 22 emerging economies around the world were included in the evaluation. Universities that do not offer undergraduate programs or that focus on a narrow subject were excluded from the analysis. Universities with less than 200 articles published for year were also discarded from the analysis, with the exception of schools that dealt with topics that generate low publication volumes, such as arts and humanities or engineering. China dominated the Times Higher Education ranking, with 23 schools in the top 100. 4 Chinese universities made it directly to top ten. According to the experts at Times Higher Education, the Chinese dominance can be explained through the fact that the local government sets aside special funding, which is destined to improve the status of its universities.
Based on the statistics released by Times Higher Education, we would like to provide with a countdown we have compiled of the top 20 higher education institutions in emerging economies.
