The top 10 weight loss companies by revenue are probably happy every January because of all the New Year’s Resolutions that involve people’s vows to cut down on their weight. But these companies are particularly happy because they get to capitalize on the growing trend of people trying to build and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
A lot of factors drive the flow of revenue for weight loss companies, which includes gyms, physical activity service providers, health supplement makers, and similar products and services that are geared towards weight management. One such factor is seasonality. Like a lot of businesses, weight loss companies have their periods of big revenue. Chances are that these companies earn a lot of money in January, when many people are trying to lose the weight they gained from all the feasts and parties they attended during the holidays. Another likely peak season for these companies is the bundle of months leading up to summer, when many people young and old try to get into better shape (anything but round, please) so that they look more attractive when hitting the beach.
Aside from seasons, popularity of certain activities and products can help augment revenue for weight loss companies. For gyms and similar facilities, they can take offer classes on certain activities that are trending on popular and social media, like yoga, Zumba, or pilates. For the health supplement makers and the creators of food-related weight loss programs, working towards natural, organic ingredients can provide new ways for these companies to devise new products or tweak existing offerings to better cater to consumer demands.
