10. Lego Games
Lego is a celebrated toy, and it’s collaboration with numerous other franchises have led to some interesting products. However, you can only have so many games that you spend destroying stuff to get Lego blocks. As quirky and innovative Lego may be for their games, I think they should take a break from just making too many Lego games a year.
9. Gran Turismo
Some time ago, Gran Turismo was the forerunner of racing games. Promoting realism and the best cars for any racing enthusiast, they did release constantly with all the stiff competition. Then the game just somehow stayed the same with each release.
8. Metal Gear
Metal Gear has had a solid run, with games dating back to the days of the family computer. To the highly praised Metal Gear Solid run of recent years, after Konami decided to announce that Metal Gear would have its last game with Metal Gear Solid 3, they again somehow decided to work on a spin-off story. It leaves somehow a bitter taste in most people’s mouths.
7. Fable
Another game that started off as a great fantasy game. They had found success and a following after releasing good sequels to the original game. However, Microsoft seems to have had the idea to just release games recently regardless of the content with Fable being one of those games.
6. Sonic
Sonic the hedgehog is now considered one of the classics. With the extreme speed and ring collection a fond memory for most gamers. With recent releases however, game companies are just trying to make something happen with Sonic but are not finding so much success.
5. Transformers
Another game franchise trying to milk from a successful toy franchise and a questionable movie franchise, Transformers tries to release a few games that get the public’s attention, but somehow just falls short of being anything other than mediocre. It is no wonder that is one of the video game franchises that needs to die.
4. Resident Evil
Considered a cult classic and the origin of the Survival Horror genre, Resident Evil found an amazing recreation with Resident Evil 4. From there though things just went downhill as Capcom continues to try and recreate the success that the early games and the acclaimed 4 did. A lot of fans still cling hope that they would make something spectacular.
3. Dynasty Warriors
There’s just something fun about being an ancient hero and slicing your way through hordes of common-folk, all easy at the hands of your skill and blade. It’s amazing how much Dynasty Warriors and spin-off games have been made considering how repetitive and similar each game is.
2. Call of Duty
Birthing from the era of popular world war shooters, Call of Duty started to set itself apart with better gameplay and stories. Then with the advent of Modern Warfare, Call of Duty became the premiere shooter for both casual and competitive gamers. The problem that most people have on call of duty is that the releases somehow never end. They make it a point to release a new game every year just to make money out of it.
1. Halo
Halo was amazing on its initial run, following a story from a series of novels which showcased the struggle of humanity against difficult alien odds. However after following through the initial story, Microsoft somehow decided to just continue making Halo games, even after the original developer Bungie left to focus on other projects.
