Topping the list, Colorado is the cheapest US state in terms of gasoline prices per gallon as of April 2024. According to the US Energy Information Administration, Colorado accounts for about 4% of the total US crude oil production, which makes it the 5th largest natural crude oil-producing state. As of writing this article, the state’s gasoline prices are about $0.57 less than the national average and have also dropped over the course of a year. For context, in 2023, Colorado’s per-gallon gas prices averaged $3.579.
