Even though China’s selenium production levels have not changed from 2018 to 2019, it has still been able to obtain the top rank in top selenium producing countries in the world. This isn’t really surprising since China is also known to have the highest selenium reserves in the world, which amount to over a quarter of the global reserves. In China, the main use for selenium was in electrolytic manganese production, where selenium dioxide plays an important role in increase the efficiency of the process and the metal deposition rate.
