We all love technology, and we love finding out more and more about the latest products released into the world by the various top manufacturers in tech, and this shows up in our Internet history, so we’re going to take a look at the top 10 most googled tech products in 2015.
There are those products that are forever hot in online searches, such as iPhones and the latest Samsung Galaxy versions, as well as whatever new tablet has been launched, catching everyone’s eye and making them curious to find out more about them.
Tech products are always popular, but as with all tech out there, their popularity is fleeting as the next best thing is just around the corner. The fact that these ten products have attracted enough searches on Google to warrant a top for themselves and to make it into the chart says a lot about them and the manufacturers behind them. You will notice, however, that these all come from well-known producers, newcomers being left out again.
The ranking comes from Google who released a few charts at the end of the year, as it has been doing for the past few years. If you want you can check out the top google searches in 2015, the top 10 most googled movies in 2015 or the top 10 most googled music artists in 2015. For now, however, we move on to take a look at the top 10 most googled tech products in 2015.
10. Surface Pro 4
Although this Microsoft product has only been available for purchase since November, it has clearly made a lot of people curious; after all, the Redmond company has been talking about this new product for months.
The Surface Pro 4 is a lighter, thinner and more powerful version of the Surface Pro 3, which was to be expected given the trend in the business to improve as much as possible on previous versions. Of course, there’s more to the Surface Pro 4 than that, including a better processor, better pen and keyboard cover and more. Sadly, battery life seems to be lower than most people would like, according to user reviews across the internet, but you can’t have it all, it seems.
9. Nexus 6P
If you’re passionate about Google’s Android mobile operating system, then you’re probably looking to get a phone that has a clean version of it. As you probably know already, most producers alter the OS to make it better suit their phone set up, changing things up quite a bit. With the Nexus 6P, or any other Nexus phone, you get the Android experience as Google intended you to. The Nexus line has been available for many years, and even though it has changed manufacturers quite a few times, Google has always kept a hands-on attitude with this product, getting involved in picking out all the hardware to best fit the idea in their mind.
The product has just been released for purchased for several retailers, but the interest in the product goes back a few months as the excitement about the new “Google phone” grew. The 6P comes with an improved camera, fingerprint sensor, and a reversible USB-C port, to name a few. As always, however, there’s no optical image stabilization and the phone doesn’t support wireless charging.
8. HTC One M9
Released back in March, the HTC One M9 seems to be one of the most popular phones of the year given the fact that it ranks at number 8 on this year’s most googled consumer tech. Up until now, the phone has received rather good reviews, with people praising the good looking design, great speakers and the awesome display. Although the camera is a rather impressive 20 megapixels, people aren’t all that pleased with how it all works. You can’t please everyone, so there’s that.
7. Samsung Galaxy J5
Launched in June 2015, the Samsung Galaxy J5 is a budget phone that offers a pretty nice experience. While the flagship Galaxy has its own entry in this chart, the J5 is one cool alternative, especially if you aren’t willing to pay that much for a smartphone. The price has made this phone a star among its peers, especially among those with lower budgets when it comes to purchasing tech. On the other hand, even though the price is low, it still offers quality, including a 13 MP camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset, and 1.5 GB RAM.
6. Samsung Galaxy Note 5
When it comes to phablets, Samsung clearly knows that it’s doing. The Galaxy Note 5 is a bit slimmer than the previous version, as well as a few grams lighter, which shouldn’t really matter since it’s already a device that’s extremely easy to hold. The device’s display has improved since Galaxy Note 4, the camera is better, and there’s an octa-core processor included in the package. The launch of this device has gotten tech enthusiasts excited about having a new gadget to play with. The hype has been around since the year’s start as more and more images leaked in the media showing the new device, but it was only later, in the summer, when Samsung actually released the device and made it available for purchase across the world.
5. LG G4
Perhaps one of the best phones LG has released in recent years, the LG G4 offers a large display, great camera controls and even allows users to snap photos in raw format, something that’s quite rare among smartphone devices. There’s also been quite a bit of talk about something that’s also become a rarity nowadays – the replaceable battery. In a world where smartphones are compact masses that cannot be opened without a hammer having access to the battery seems to be the exception rather than the rule.
The device also has an eye-catching design and the back’s curve makes it easier to hold, especially by those with smaller hands and who normally have issues with larger screened phones.
Overall, this has all made the LG G4 one of the top 10 most googled tech products in 2015, ranking at number 5.
4. iPad Pro
And here we have the first Apple product on the list. As expected, it ranks quite high on the list. This year’s iPad Pro is faster and bigger than its predecessors which is something that Apple prides itself in, especially since it’s been highly criticized over the years for barely making any improvements to its devices before launching the new versions out into the world.
The iPad Pro is also a good choice for those who enjoy drawing on their gadgets. The stylus that comes with it is pretty responsive on the screen, which means that it offers a near perfect experience. After all, nothing really compares to actually putting pen to paper, but the iPad is doing pretty well at mimicking this experience.
3. Apple Watch
Continuing with Apple, we have the company’s smartwatch in the chart as well. The pricey gadget has split the tech lovers into two teams – those who love the design, the device and would pay just about anything for it, and those who believe that it’s not worth paying so much money for what the Apple Watch has to offer.
Reviewers are pretty clear on how things stand with the Apple Watch. The design of the device is praised by everyone, as well as the intuitive interface and the fact that it is available in multiple sizes. On the other hand, the smartwatch is expensive no matter what version you choose to buy and you should keep in mind that you’re quite likely to find the version that you love the most to be too expensive for your budget.
There has also been extensive criticism regarding the battery life of the smartwatch and the fact that there are so few apps that actually work with Apple Watch. At the very least, when you compare the Apple device with Android-based smartwatch, the Cupertino company falls flat.
That, however, hasn’t deterred the world’s gadget lovers from looking for more information about the product, placing the Apple Watch on the third spot in this year’s Google searches.
2. Samsung Galaxy S6
Since we were mentioning earlier that the Samsung flagship phone is present in the chart, here it is. Placing second, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is one of the most googled gadgets throughout the year. As always, Samsung has tried its best to outdo itself when launching the new version in the Galaxy S series.
Ever since its launch, the device has received pretty good reviews. The glass and metal combination has been praised by users who believe it offers the device a really cool look. The new Galaxy S6 comes with a better fingerprint reader and a cool new camera shortcut key which makes it easier than ever to take advantage of the 16 MP camera.
There are some downsides, of course. Old Samsung fans are quite disheartened over the fact that you can no longer remove the battery or extend the phone’s storage space.
1. iPhone 6S
This is probably not a surprise to anyone that keeps an eye on the tech market, but the iPhone 6S was the most googled tech product of the year. That’s pretty much because whether you love or you hate Apple you’re still likely to take a look over the fence and see what they’re cooking.
The latest iPhone is proof of that. Offering little improvements over last year’s version, the 6S has still convinced a lot of people to switch over to the new phone. The design hasn’t really changed at all, despite Apple claiming the contrary. The 3D touch is quite impressive, however, and there’s also the fact that the device is built with the OS in mind, and the OS with the device, which means there’s a perfect symbiosis going on, something that’s not always the case for Android devices.
As always, however, the iPhone is entirely too expensive for what the device has to offer. Android counterparts are available for a lot less money, but then again this is not one of the top three things gadget lovers consider when getting a new device. Furthermore, Apple has its loyal clientele, and they’re hard to sway over to the Android side.
So there you have it, the top 10 most googled tech products in 2015. Which ones did you look for?
