Looking for the top 10 atheist YouTube channels to watch? You came to the right place!
Atheist channels can be interesting for many people, not just for the non-religious. They can promote funny videos, scientific ones, ones discussing social issues-don’t expect all of the videos to be related to atheism per se. But don’t worry, the atheism YouTube channels on our list below are really the channels that are promoting atheism or making a mockery out of religion. My God, this sounds so funny! What I find funny about promoting atheism is that atheists are doing the same thing many religions do. They are literally advocating for their (non)beliefs. And doing that with so much passion, trying to convince people to give up their faith, working that hard to prove everyone that your standpoint is the right one and that everyone around who don’t believe in the same thing you do are stupid… there is something religious about it. You all have heard of the expression that someone “religiously follows” something? That actually stands for great devotion to something. Hence, with so much devotion coming from the atheists in these modern times, I find that those loud atheist groups are actually examples of extremely religious groups.
Now, I must have really hit a nerve! Too bad that atheists can’t say – “God will punish you for talking that way about us and mocking our religion…. I mean our belief, I mean our non-belief.”
Let’s face it, atheist do BELIEVE that God and/or gods do not exist. They believe in something, in nothingness. Well, I guess that’s ok. Everyone has the right to believe in something, right? But why is there so strong a need to convince others around you to share the same faith? I address this question to religious people too, who can sometimes be almost overtly aggressive when trying to persuade someone, being on a mission to convert them.
I know that many active atheists really hate when someone calls them religious, and their belief in science a faith. But how to address them? I mean, being so certain about Darwin’s theory of evolution, for example, is just funny. People easily forget history, that our planet is not the center of the Universe and that the Sun doesn’t rotate around us, nor that the Earth is not flat like once was thought. How many scientific theories have failed the test of time? We came to the main issue why atheists can be so annoying. It is their certainty, their religiously blind faith, their arrogance, their KNOW-IT-ALL stand. Any passionate atheist is just facing a God complex. They know it all, there is no God besides them, obviously.
Let’s be honest, skepticism is logically the strongest philosophy. Why? Because it doesn’t stand for anything, it just question’s everything. There is no certainty about anything. While you can’t live your life religiously and literally questioning everything around you, a little dose of skepticism is much healthier then the blind certainty about things that we can’t possibly know anything about (afterlife, God’s existence, etc).
Enough, with the philosophical debate, I am sure that most of you will enjoy the channels listed below, no matter of what faith are you. Some of you will find them to be interesting and awesome YouTube channels to subscribe, others will think of them as funny, and maybe there are people who will find them boring, and annoying. Feel free to share with us your opinion in the comments below.
With so many atheist, skeptic and science (often discussing religion and/or atheism) YouTube channels available, how did we come up with the top 10? Well, first we took a look at some suggestions from Patheos, Godless Girl, Atheist Republic and InfoBlizzard. Then, we decided to rank them according to the number of subscribers each channel has. After all, only atheists really know what are the most interesting channels discussing their “religion”. And they don’t miss subscribing to them. If you are familiar with the atheist YouTube channels that had most subscribers last year, then you won’t find any new channels here. But the order is a slightly different. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the most popular, most interesting, most attention-worthy – top 10 atheist YouTube channels to watch!
10. AronRa
Current number of subscribers: 137, 357
Behind this very popular atheist YouTube channel is L. Aron Nelson, Texas state director of the non-profit organization American Atheists, whose main objective is to achieve full separation of state and church. He is a famous atheist in America, who is traveling the country and confronting religious people. He believes in evolution and on his channel you can find many lectures about it. If you are curious about science, Darwin, and evolution, his videos are also a good choice for you, as he really tries to make them interesting even for the people who are not that much into science. You don’t have to be an atheist to check out his channel! But beware, though – you may become one! According to stories available on the Internet, his current wife, Lilandra, has lost her religion thanks to him. He convinced her to believe in evolution, which automatically made her give up the Protestant interpretation of the Bible. Sounds powerful? Check out his channel then, if you are not afraid of converting in any way!
9. Atheist Experience
Current number of subscribers: 140,459
Another channel that is trying to fight against the discrimination atheists face in the world. Well, I didn’t know that atheists were so unequal and that their rights are being violated. They must have done something wrong since God is punishing them this way! Anyway, we should help, we can subscribe to Atheist Experience, and support them. After all, why not? This an interesting weekly, live, call-in talk Internet show, that debates many topics. Hence, they give an opportunity to challenge their faith, which is respectful.
8. The Atheist Voice
Current number of subscribers: 151, 387
Every voice is important. Hence, the atheist voice must be heard too. The Atheist Voice channel is preparing a documentary called “Coming Out Atheist” about difficulties young (and adult) atheists are facing when they admit to people they don’t believe in God. Yes, their problems are the same as the LGBT people have coming out. Don’t get me wrong, I acknowledge that there are parts of the world where admitting you don’t believe in God can even endanger your life, but those are extremes. So, by naming their video “coming out atheist”, the people behind this channel associate with “coming our from the closet” and create a comparison between the troubles of atheists and the LGBT, which, for that matter, is pointless, as everyone feels their problems are the worst.
Take a step back and think about how much insisting on something being a problem can sometimes make it more of a problem than actually helping. I am sure there are many people and families who won’t judge atheists at all and with the videos here, they could be afraid of coming out for no reason.
7. The Thinking Atheist
Current number of subscribers: 213,948
The main objective of the Thinking Atheist YouTube channel is to make people think and question everything that doesn’t have scientific proof. As we said earlier, challenging things and questioning them is good, but you have to be self-aware and question your own beliefs and not just those of others. Don’t forget that non-existence of God can’t be proven too! Nevertheless, there can be found many interesting videos on this channel.
6. Cult Of Dusty
Current number of subscribers: 238,808
The main idea behind this YouTube channel, as seen in its description, is “making a mockery out of religion”. Too bad, no intellectual wants to waste time making a mockery out of atheism. Or maybe, not out of atheism per se, as per atheist groups who are acting religiously atheistic. I, mean, let’s face it, there are these atheistic groups, people, who testify that teaching people about atheism, and converting them into atheists is giving them motivation to live. Once again, there is something religious about this. Or, maybe I should say, there is something devilish about this.
Anyway, Cult of Dusty offers some cool videos like “hot to get banned from Facebook”, which shows us once again, how atheists truly are discriminated. Thank God for YouTube for keeping them alive on social networks!
5. Pat Condell
Current number of subscribers: 263,393
This channel is not promoting only videos that are covering atheism, but a variety of issues as well. And, the man behind it proclaims himself as godless. Godless or not, we can’t argue about his humor as it can be evidenced in the video below. This is definitely one of the top 10 atheist YouTube channels to watch that I would take a look at once in a while.
4. Jaclyn Glenn
Current number of subscribers: 394,990
Supposedly on this channel, there are plenty off funny and interesting videos. I searched for an hour and couldn’t find one. But, at least, Jaclyn knows to sing and she is pretty (yeah, why in the hell did she become atheist then? ). So, below is her cover of Hozier’s Take Me To Church.
3. ThunderF00t
Current number of subscribers: 490,613
I have learned one more thing about atheists while searching for more information on this topic – atheists and feminists usually don’t smell each other. How can they possibly like each other, when “feminism is proven to poison everything” as it can be seen in the link below. And we all know that atheism just gives a bright, rational perspective on everything. I am curious to know what women who are both feminists and atheist think about it?
2. Dark Matter
Current number of subscribers: 508,344
No ironic comment about this one, because humor is really there, as it can be seen from the video below. In the description of this channel, the person behind it says that he doesn’t know if God exists, just that he does know that the Abrahamic God doesn’t exist. Anyway, I laughed watching this video, hope you will too.
1. The Amazing Atheist
Current number of subscribers: 821,674
The Amazing Grace, I mean The Amazing Atheist YouTube channel has a video (below the entire article) in which 3 reasons for watching this channel are presented. I guess they are good enough, as this channel has more than 800,000 subscribers, which has made it top this list of top 10 atheist YouTube channels to watch.
Write to us, tell us, which one is your favorite, that you would subscribe and religiously watch?
In the end, we can only thank God that all these people have found their religion – atheism, that keeps them alive, and motivates them every day of their life. It would be really hard if the person who doesn’t believe in God didn’t have at least this obsessive mission to convert all the people into believing in what they do believe. After all, since the history of mankind, all people have believed in something – at least in their own bare existence. And only Descartes was sure that he has succeeded in proving that.
“I think, therefore I am”. The moment you stop thinking, and questioning, that moment you’re gone!
