5. Write gibberish
No matter how well they are programmed, bots cannot be trained to respond to every combination of letters possible. One of the best ways to test whether you are talking to a bot is by writing something normal and introducing gibberish such a ‘kakfjakfj’ and note their response. If their response is normal instead of wondering whether you are suffering from a seizure, it is safe to end the conversation right there and then without wondering what might have been. Often, in order to incorporate what you say, the bot might respond by asking what the gibberish was in reference to, like it’s a perfectly normal thing to say. That should get the warning bells ringing in your head as much as the person completely ignoring the gibberish. This is a pattern when it comes to examples to spot scammers on OkCupid and Tinder.
