The beauty industry is one of the most resilient industries across the globe, continuing to grow at an upward trajectory despite turbulent macroeconomic conditions and global economic crises. According to a report by McKinsey and Company, the industry generated around $430 billion in revenue in 2022, including skincare, makeup, fragrance, and haircare sectors. Continuing a solid recovery after a dent in sales due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the beauty industry is anticipated to grow to $580 billion by 2027, with a 6% expected annual growth rate.
This growth rate is slightly higher when compared to other consumer segments, such as footwear, apparel, pet care, eyewear, and food & beverages. The beauty industry as a whole is expected to undergo “premiumization” in the coming years, with the premium beauty segment anticipated to grow at an 8% annual growth rate between 2022 and 2027 as consumers increase their spending in the sector.

According to the Cosmetic Surgery Global Market Report 2024, the industry is expected to grow from a market size of $48.05 billion in 2023 to $53 billion in 2024, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.3%. This growth is largely attributed to the significant role of social media, influencers, and celebrities in promoting such surgical procedures, reshaping beauty standards, and influencing consumer perceptions.
Although inflation and supply chain interruptions due to the Ukraine-Russia conflict pose challenges to the industry, it is still anticipated to reach a market size of $63.66 billion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 8.2%. Estimates by McKinsey and Company project Asia and North America to hold the two largest beauty markets in the coming years, with a 7% and 6% year-over-year growth expected between 2022 and 2027. Africa and the Middle East are also anticipated to emerge as significant regions in the coming decade, with a 12% expected YoY growth rate. Prominent Players in the Global Beauty Industry
Global beauty companies are constantly evolving to match the pace with the ever-changing trends in the industry and resonate with their audience. The use of technology in advancing the industry is becoming a prominent trend, with companies like L’Oréal (EPA:OR) emerging at the forefront. In its commitment to inclusive, personalized, and responsible cosmetic products, the company revealed a portfolio of innovations under its campaign to deliver ‘Beauty for Each, Powered by Beauty Tech.’ The portfolio includes a GenAI-powered personal beauty assistant, a GenAI Beauty Content Lab called CREAITECH, a micro-resurfacing device to provide advanced skincare performance, and an innovative hair dryer functioning on infrared light technology.
The company also introduced a human skin-like technology platform to undertake product testing and advance scientific research. Known as Skin Technology, this advancement was made possible by the intersection of mechanics, biology, and electronics. It mimics real human skin, including skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and the ability to tan and heal. L’Oréal (EPA:OR) is further advancing the technology to elevate product testing standards and produce cruelty-free and effective products. L’Oréal (EPA:OR) has also emerged as the first beauty company to measure the environmental footprint of its retail elements by adopting the EcoDesignCloud solution by Eviden. Working towards L’Oréal’s Future sustainability objectives, the solution employs the internally recognized Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology and considers 16 criteria to measure the environmental footprint of promotional and point-of-sale materials throughout their lifecycles. With the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the company has also emerged as a favorite of players. Several athletes were seen using the brand’s makeup products to maintain their game faces, including concealers, setting spray, and setting powder.

Our Methodology
We conducted a visitor survey through Reddit to compile a list of the 15 states with the most beautiful women in the US. We looked at ten Reddit threads that asked commenters to mention the US states with the most beautiful women. We only chose threads with more than 50 comments and studied more than 500 comments to shortlist the US states with the most recommendations by Reddit users. We then counted the number of upvotes on each comment and chose the top 25 states with the most upvotes. The 15 states with the most beautiful women in the US are arranged in ascending order of the number of upvotes on Reddit.

According to Reddit users, the state’s beach culture is one of the primary reasons behind an increased inclination of its residents towards fitness and health, with everyone wanting to look exceptional in beachwear. The state also has Hollywood and is the center of the film and modeling industry, attracting beautiful people from all over the country who wish to make their mark in these two sectors. The western US state extends from the Mexican border, running along the Pacific for around 900 miles.
