Okay, we made that probability up, but the point is this: although the print media industry is in secular decline, there are still plenty of massive publications out there, and it’s worth it to make yourself aware of the biggest players. With over 300 million people in the US alone, newspapers have major market potential; one of the biggest companies in this space is News Corp (NASDAQ:NWSA), which owns several major publications.
With millions of papers sold daily, print media sources have a large influence on public opinion, but any source must earn readers’ trust to maintain a solid base, and to build profits. And even though there are hundreds of titles, only a select few manage to earn the public’s appreciation.

The aforementioned News Corp (NASDAQ:NWSA) operates in a variety of segments, including Cable Network Programming, Television, and Publishing. In the publishing segment, the company holds several English-language newspapers in the U.K., the U.S, and Australia. News Corp owns a bevy of titles that are the respective leaders in their regions.
The Alliance for Audite Media in one of its recent reports presented circulation data for over 590 U.S newspapers from October 2012 to March 2013. AAM is a not-for-profit organization involved in analyzing data from the media industry. In the report, the company mentioned that digital editions currently represent over 19% of daily newspapers in the U.S.

The data in the list include the total number of publications and the number of digital publications (apps for Smartphones/tablets, restricted access websites, etc.).
