Let’s move from country to country in search for the 11 countries with the highest migration rates. Migration has started to become more and more common in today’s age. Travel has started to become affordable due to promotions and cheaper travel costs in general. A lot of people have been incentivized to pursue life in another country. One may offer you more benefits, a better financial status or even just better opportunities. With that said, there are some countries which experience more people migrating in comparison to others. There may be multiple reasons for that, though we can be assured this list contains the highest migration rates.

In order to accurately rank this list, we have to consider the net migration for a country. This means that we have to look at all the people migrating to and from the country. A lot of countries are not included in this list because of the equivalent or even higher number of people moving out of the country. 11. Anguilla

Just lying east of Puerto Rico, this country composed of islands is centralized by a larger land mass. Anguilla is known to be a tax haven. Previously the country didn’t even have any form of taxation. However, due to costs and budget deficits in recent years, they introduced their first form of income tax.

10. United Arab Emirates

The majority of migrants in the UAE are mainly there for the working opportunity. The United Arab Emirates is one of the world’s strongest international employers. A lot of their migrant workers come from Asian countries. The likelihood of migrants staying permanently is unlikely.

9. Bahrain

Bahrain is another country which has its work force mainly comprised of immigrants. An estimated 75% of skilled workers are from other countries. Despite this, living and working conditions are according to many, harsh.

8. Singapore

Until recently, Singapore has been one of the strongest hubs for migration both for work and permanent residence. An increasing demand for workers and foreign nationals came with the increase and growth of their economy. Even now, you’ll notice that a good percentage of their population comes from foreign nationals.

7. Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands are the strongest group of islands in the Caribbean both economically and financially. They sport the highest standards of living in the area. Many people flock there for the Caribbean environment as well as the increasing growth and demand of their financial sector. They’ve recently become a hub for the banking and investment community.

6. Libya

Libya is another country who’s been very strong in recruiting an international workforce. Recent problems of the country have decreased this number. Many workers now stay away from the country due to dangers and conflicts of war. It is also known that a lot of illegal immigrants would find their way to this country if they would ever be rejected by the neighboring European countries.

5. Jordan

The country of Jordan itself has a history related to migration. It is one of the younger countries in the Middle East. The first people who settled in Jordan were actually Palestinian refugees. Over time, conflicts in neighboring countries brought more people to Jordan. This  positively affected their workforce and economy.

4. British Virgin Islands

Even though these Caribbean islands are officially owned by the United Kingdom, migrating to the Virgin Islands is very difficult. For one, the standard of living is quite high due to it being a very popular destination among tourists. The high costs also include the expenses needed to handle porting and shipping of international goods. Despite this, many still migrate to these islands and endure the strict processes.

3. Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is another country on this list that has a high number of labor migrants. Even just from countries in the same continent, many go to Zimbabwe in search of working opportunities. The experience for many has been both negative and positive. In recent years even locals have wanted to leave Zimbabwe because of negative working conditions.

2. Qatar

Qatar’s recent boom in population and economy can be attributed to migrants. An astonishing 94% of the people in the workforce are immigrants. It doesn’t look that is going to stop increasing any time soon.

1. Lebanon

Lebanon in essence has been a migratory-minded culture. From the internal migration of villages, Lebanon now experiences migration from neighboring countries and even the global workforce. Lebanon is another hub for international workers.  There are concerns expressed due to Lebanon’s consistent lack of a census. It’s hard to accurately depict their social statuses and living conditions. In recent years the population of Lebanon is experiencing a slow drop even with the high number of migrants.
