Curious what the most popular Nokia phones are? In 1973, John F. Mitchell and Dr. Martin Cooper from Motorola presented the first mobile phone, which was a handset weighing over 2 pounds (about 1 kg). Ten years later, the DynaTAC 8000x, the first commercial mobile phone, became available. Since then, the mobile phone space has been advancing quite rapidly, and currently over 80% of the Earth’s population is using this type of communication. Judging from these numbers, it’s easy to notice that the market of mobile phones has great potential, and companies involved in the development, production and manufacturing of mobile phones are competing trying to conquer the largest part of the market’s share.

One of the companies that has been a leader in the market of mobile phones is Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK). The products of the Finland-based Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) have been on the top of the bestseller charts for years, until a couple of years back, when with the popularity of smartphones made other companies like Apple, or Samsung grow and outrun Nokia.
However, Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) did not give up the fight, which is proved by the release of its Lumia-series smartphones. Nokia’s rivals also strengthened their positions and have been giving Lumia a hard time, though, and as a response, Nokia had to cut prices on its phones, but also managed to put the “pedal to the metal” in the process of releasing its budget Lumia, 521, which most likely will succeed in the emerging markets, having an attractive price of $150.
Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) is constantly investing in developing its new smartphones, adding new features, functions, and improving the old ones. Sales of Lumias are increasing, which could mean that the company, after struggling with some financial problems a couple of years ago, is finding its way out of the woods.
Nokia has reported sales of almost 20 million Lumias since releasing the first model, Lumia 800, at the end of 2011. However, the Lumia is a recent model, while Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK)’s brand has become popular years ago, and the credit for that goes to several of its very successful early models.
Let’s look at the ten most popular Nokia phones of all time. The list includes classic models, which have not only been most popular among other “Nokias,” but they’ve been best-sellers in the overall smartphone market as well.
