If you had to guess at which were the most expensive items on Amazon, what do you think they would be? A car perhaps? Maybe a peculiar photography lens, or a rather rare collector’s item? Well, we’ve put together a list of the most bizarrely priced objects on Amazon, in case you ever wanted to spend ludicrous amounts of money on a random acquisition.
We recently published an article listing the 10 best selling items on Etsy, which included some pretty peculiar objects in its own right. However, the most expensive items found in the world’s largest online shop aren’t necessarily the most popular, as many of these have been on the webpage for an extended period of time. While some of the listed treasures are highly priced because of their rareness, others are considered luxury items, and yet another group is merely expensive because the owner miscalculated the object’s net value altogether. Either way, take a look at our compilation of the most expensive items on Amazon, and marvel at what buyers consider high-end in the online shopping world.
10. Box of Annie’s macaroni and cheese
Price: $368.00
There’s no denying that macaroni and cheese is one of the most popular meals in the United States, but would you really pay $368 for a small box of food? Although Annie’s Homegrown Totally Natural and Gluten-free Rice Pasta can be consumed by gluten-intolerants who would otherwise be unable to enjoy such a meal, this price still seems ridiculously high.
Is a box of mac and cheese the most bizarre item on our list? One thing is sure: of the most expensive items on Amazon, nine have it beat. Keep reading to find out what they are.
9. Cloak and Dagger Magazine & Figure
Price: $9,999.00
Comic book fans have been known to drop serious cash on memorabilia, and the action figures of their favorite characters, but this seller takes the hype to a whole new level. For the moderate sum of $10,000, you can purchase Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger Collection Magazine and action figure…or well, you know, buy a car instead?
8. Pete Doherty Autographed Blood Painting
Price: $26,250.00
This painting is as creepy as it is expensive. Drawn by the heroin-addicted, rock-and-roll persona Pete Doherty, the canvas features a man in a hat with blood dripping down his face and is signed by Pete…with his own blood.
7. Spider-Man comic book
Price: $40,000
If you thought the previous comic-related item on our list was absurdly expensive, then hold your breath because this comic book is sold at four times that price. In its defense, it is the first volume of the “Amazing Spider-Man” series, which was published in 1963, and therefore a proportionately difficult find for collectors. As this is the only one in stock at Amazon, the price range seems adequate, although clearly quite expensive.
6. Santa Gnome
Price: $42,595.00
I’m not quite sure why anyone would pay this amount of money for a Santa gnome, but according to the product description it is a hand-painted and glittered, as well as mouth-blown tree ornament. It may just be the perfect gift for a Christmas fanatic with a lot of money to spend.
5. Paul McCartney signed guitar
Price: $60,000.00
The fact that this Squier guitar was signed by one of the Beatles after his concert in Ohio will make this price tag seem cheap to a true fan. Furthermore, the guitar is apparently in excellent condition and ready for grabs on Amazon.
4. 7 Mickey Mantle autographed baseball cards
Price: $88,270.88
This set of seven baseball cards is signed by the legendary baseball player Mickey Mantle, and comes with a certificate of authenticity for the skeptical buyer.
3. Patek Philippe’s Grand Complication Men’s Platinum Watch
Price: $117,000.00
This luxury watch is embedded with 30 jewels and nine bridges, and also features a retrograde date hand. These are rare in timepieces, as they never reach a full circle.
2. Asfour Crystal Tut Anhk Amon Chair
Price: $140,000
There’s only one of these crystal armchairs in stock on Amazon, and its price is likely due to the amount of work hours poured into its production. After 630 hours, the chair is now ready for sale.
1. Leather-Bound Bible
Price: $5,000,000
Although Kindle offers the bible for $0.99, this leather-bound, 1880 edition is apparently signed by the author (I’m not even sure what that means, or who the author is supposed to be, as it clearly can’t be the actual author(s) of The Bible) . I’m not sure whether that justifies this astronomical price, but it does earn it the number one position on our list of the most expensive items on Amazon.
