Yubari King Melons – $22,872

These melons could look –at first sight- like regular cantaloupes. But, as you might figure, they are not. These ones are grown in greenhouses in Yūbari, Japan, and are the result of a cross between Earl’s Favourite and Burpee’s “Spicy” Cantaloupe.

The most perfect pair was sold to a souvenir shop and seafood lunch restaurant owner, who paid $22,872 for them in 2008.
