Should Apple Inc. (AAPL) be Threatened by Microsoft Corporation (MSFT)’s Lumia?

It is not only Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) that has been stealing the show with its newly released products this Christmas, but Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Lumia has also pocketed a lot more than just change during this year’s holiday season. Tom’s guide associate editor, Michael Andronico, revealed on CNBC that Lumia has in fact secured Microsoft a third spot in terms of smart phone sales.

Microsoft, is MSFT a good stock, Satya Nadella, Steve Ballmer, David Kirkpatrick,

“Interestingly Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) was in third place with its Lumia devices, which Microsoft recently re-branded, from which they dropped the Nokia name. So, I think that this is a good sign of Microsoft’s new direction for their smart phones. I think that it’s an indicator of what is to come in future that I think Lumia is on the rise,” said Andronico.

Currently Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s lead seems insurmountable with half of mobile devices activated during the Christmas season belonging to Tim Cook’s company. Andronico shed some light on the star products of the tech giant.

“[…] Starting with the smart phones we have two significantly different Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) phones, the standard iPhone and the more phablet styled iPhone 6 Plus and those larger phablet sized iPhones are really on the rise. I think a lot of people found those under their tree this Christmas […],” said Andronico.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s CEO Satya Nadella has revived the world’s second largest company in terms of equity after he took over the helm this year by expanding the company’s cloud business. Surely enough he knows the treasures that his company can unlock if it makes itself more relevant in the mobile space.

With the weight of talented work force backing him, Nadella should not be underestimated in this battle between the two tech giants, no matter how small Microsoft’s market share may seem at the time being. After all winners in technology space can easily lose the lead and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s era under Steve Ballmer is testament to that.
