It disclosed 79 long equity positions, worth more than $251 million. Over the quarter, most of Marque Millennium’s holdings remained unchanged; it did not acquire any new stocks, nor did it increase or decrease its stakes in any of its preexisting holdings. The only move that took place was the close of its position in Molycorp Inc (NYSE:MCP), which consisted of 325,600 shares, worth about $1.5 million. However, let’s take a look at some of its top holdings in order to elucidate if any of them deserve further research.
Marque Millennium’s most valuable stake is in SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK), a $20.37 billion market cap data storage solutions designer, developer and manufacturer. The fund declared ownership of 116,390 shares of the company, which are worth more than $12.15 million, and account for roughly 4.8% of the fund’s equity portfolio’s total value. SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK)´s stock returned 29.55% over the second quarter of 2014.
Other major funds betting on SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK) are John Croghan and Richard Fradin’s Rail-Splitter Capital Management, which owns 98,250 shares of the company (as of June 30 2014), and Rob Citrone’s Discovery Capital Management, with 7.95 million shares (as of March 31).
The Blackstone Group L.P. (NYSE:BX) traded places with SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK) during the second quarter, and now occupies the second spot on this list. The fund said it owns 288,120 shares of this $19 billion market cap alternative asset manager. Its position at The Blackstone Group L.P. (NYSE:BX) is worth almost $10 million, and accounts for almost 4% of its total equity portfolio.
Another fund that recently disclosed ownership of The Blackstone Group L.P. (NYSE:BX)’s stock is Beech Hill Partners, the fund managed by Paul Cantor, Joseph Weiss, and Will Wurm, which owns 206,480 shares of the company.
The three companies that come next in this list kept the same place than they held in the first quarter of the year. First is Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE:STZ), a $16 billion market cap international alcoholic beverages company, of which Marque Millennium owns 103,550 shares. The stake at Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE:STZ), worth more than $9.1 million, accounts for 23.6% of its total equity portfolio.
Much like Mr. Meckel’s fund, other major hedge funds are betting on Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE:STZ). Amongst them, we can count David Harding’s Winton Capital Management, which last acknowledged holding more than $117 million in the company’s stock –or 1.33 million shares.
Western Digital Corp. (NASDAQ:WDC), a $23.88 billion market cap developer and manufacturer of data storage products, came in fourth. The fund declared ownership of $8.15 million in stock, which represent 88,400 Western Digital Corp. (NASDAQ:WDC) shares.
Cliff Asness’ Aqr Capital Management holds an even larger stake in Western Digital Corp. (NASDAQ:WDC). By the end of the first quarter, the fund acknowledged ownership of 3.01 million shares of the company.
Last is Express Scripts Holding Company (NASDAQ:ESRX), a $52.55 billion market cap healthcare management and administration services provider. The fund assured that it owns 103,400 shares of Express Scripts Holding Company (NASDAQ:ESRX), worth approximately $7.1 million.
Also betting on Express Scripts Holding Company (NASDAQ:ESRX) is Jeffrey Tannenbaum of Fir Tree, who disclosed ownership of 4.69 million shares by the end of the first quarter of 2014.
