Low Price Blackberry Phones: Research In Motion Dives Deeper Into This Region with Lower Price in Tow

Low Price Blackberry Phones: Earlier this week, we talked about how Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry has a penchant for following the leaders. We discussed how this could be both a good and bad thing for the company, especially as it attempts to regroup and better compete with the top manufacturers in the smartphone space.

More specifically, we reported that BlackBerry was following the likes of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung in India by lowering its prices as a means of attracting a larger audience. Obviously, this makes good sense in the region, regardless of who else is doing it, because consumers don’t spend nearly as much money on technology.

Research in Motion Ltd. (BBRY)After a few weeks of waiting around, it appears that Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry has finally pulled the trigger in many regions throughout the country.

According to The Economic Times, BlackBerry has “launched a plan offering all its services for Rs 129 per GB in 15 mid- and low-revenue generating circles, including Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan, targetting a deeper penetration in these regions.”

There are two interesting pieces of information there.

First and foremost, Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry decided to roll out its lower priced service in mid and low revenue generating “circles” with hopes of getting more penetration in those regions. This makes good sense, being that consumers in this part of the country will not have as much to spend on a smartphone. Not to mention the fact that many are  new to this type of technology, meaning that BlackBerry has the chance to make a good first impression.

Additionally, it is important to note that BlackBerry decided to focus only on 15 particular areas at this time. It is likely to expand beyond this should the first effort yield success.

The article goes on to add that the new monthly plan will be available on several networks including Vodafone, Idea Cellular, and Aircel. This will give consumers the chance to not only purchase a Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry device, but to choose which wireless carrier is best for them.

While BlackBerry is not alone in its efforts to break into these regions of India, the company is hoping to continue its momentum.
