In a latest filing, Libra Advisors, managed by Ranjan Tandon, revealed its holding at the end of the fourth quarter. The portfolio’s equity value fell to $49.42 million in the fourth quarter from $65.10 million in the previous quarter. In this piece we will focus on Libra Advisors’ top five holdings in terms of value.
The first one is SilverCrest Mines Inc (NYSEMKT:SVLC). The fund sliced its position to 5.81 million shares from 6.1 million shares. The value of the holding also fell to $9.76 million from $10.78 million. SilverCrest Mines was standing on the second spot in Libra Advisors’ equity portfolio at the end of September 2013.
The next on the list is Gran Tierra Energy Inc. (NYSEMKT:GTE), in which Libra Advisors disclosed a $8.62 million stake. The position amasses almost 1.18 million shares, slightly down from 1.37 million shares held as reported in the previous 13F. The value of the current position is $8.62 million.
Of all the hedge funds we track, Joseph Oughourlian and Michel Brogard’s Amber Capital, is the largest shareholder of Gran Tierra Energy Inc. (NYSEMKT:GTE), which held 7.16 million shares at the end of the third quarter.
In Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), Libra Advisors, disclosed the third-largest holding. The position contains 220,259 shares with a reported value of $8.24 million. The holding was significantly reduced from 481,891 shares held at the end of the third quarter. Microsoft Corporation was on the first spot in Ranjan’s portfolio at the end of the previous quarter, this trimming has brought down the company in the third position in Libra Advisors’ equity portfolio.
Advantage Oil & Gas Ltd (USA) (NYSE:AAV) is represented in the Libra Advisors’s equity portfolio by $8.17 million stake, which contain 1.88 million shares. The fund has raised its position from 1.1 million shares, as revealed in 13F for the previous quarter.
Springbok Capital, managed by Gavin Saitowitz And Cisco J. Del Valle, initiated a position in Advantage Oil & Gas Ltd (USA) (NYSE:AAV) in the third quarter of 2013, and held 10,000 shares at the end of the quarter.
China Mobile Ltd. (ADR) (NYSE:CHL) comes in as the fifth most valuable holding in the Libra Advisors’s equity portfolio. The fund has been bullish on the stock, raising it to 106,500 shares, versus 150,000 owned previously. The value of the stake currently amounts to $5.57 million.
Libra Advisors had added China Mobile Ltd. (ADR) (NYSE:CHL) to its equity portfolio in the third quarter of 2013.
Last month, Libra Advisors, made several moves into its equity portfolio, amongst them were MNP Petroleum Corp (OTCMKTS:MNAP), where the fund revealed that it dumped all the shares of the company. The fund also boosted its position in VIRGINIA MINES INC (OTCMKTS:VGMNF), to 2.62 million shares from 1.79 million shares held earlier.
Earlier, the fund dumped its holding in Revett Minerals Inc ADR (NYSEMKT:RVM), selling 900K shares of the company. It also sliced its position in Rare Earth Resources Corp (OTCMKTS:TRER) to 890,433 shares from 3.6 million share.
