Broadcom unveils new satellite chips, chipsets (TelecomPaper)
Chipmaker Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ:BRCM) has announced two new 28 nanometer (nm) direct broadcast satellite (DBS) systems-on-a-chip (SoCs). The systems will help operators provide new HDTV and interactive services. The devices are engineered with second generation digital video broadcasting (DVB-S2) technology and integrated Full Band Capture, as well as Broadcom’s BCM4548 for home gateways and BCM4562 for headless SAT > IP applications.
US-owned company Qualcomm to supply new technology for Formula E (AutoWeek)
Futuristic wireless battery-charging technology, developed by the U.S.-owned Qualcomm multinational, is to be used for the new-for-2014 FIA Formula E Championship for bespoke all-electric single-seaters, which was officially launched this week at the Frankfurt motor show in Germany. Smartphone chipmaker QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) has signed a five-year sponsorship deal with Formula E and will provide the series with both wireless charging and augmented-reality technology.
ISI Group Reiterates Buy on Intel Corporation Following Intel Developer Forum (Benzinga)
In a report published Thursday, ISI Group analyst Sumit Dhanda reiterated a Buy rating and $26.00 price target on Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC). In the report, ISI Group noted, “We had the opportunity to attend the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco over the past couple of days…While Intel’s quiet period isn’t set to begin until Friday, we now think a negative preannouncement is unlikely. Early in the quarter, the contrast between Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC)’s strong 2Q notebook shipments and lackluster notebook production had us (and we think many investors) worried that Intel’s outlook was too aggressive, especially in a challenging ASP environment.
