(NASDAQ:QCOM) today announced that its subsidiary, Qualcomm Atheros, Inc., launched a new chip family as part of its portfolio of low-power Wi-Fi solutions designed to connect a multitude of devices that comprise the Internet of Everything. The QCA4002 and QCA4004 networking platforms include the IP stack and full networking services on the chip to enable customers to add Wi-Fi to virtually any product with minimal development effort or cost.

Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ:BRCM) traded up 3.47% during mid-day trading on Thursday, hitting $26.82. 22,799,740 shares of the company’s stock traded hands.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) has demonstrated that it is looking to move beyond servers and try to capture more of the data centre infrastructure market, showing off its Rack Scale Architecture alongside network and connectivity innovations as it launched its Atom C2000 family of server chips. While the chipmaker unveiled its new system-on-a-chip server line, the announcement was just a small part of a wider statement of intent by Intel that its x86 architecture can and should be used everywhere in the data centre, commoditising equipment like storage arrays and network switches by building them around low-cost Intel chips such as the Atom.
What to expect from Intel Developer Forum 2013 (ComputerWeekly)

This year we can expect to hear the firm talk more about enterprise cloud adoption in an open data centre world — not the first source of cloud spokespersons for some, it will be interesting to hear Intel’s position.
