Nokia Lumia 1020 lands in China (CNET)
Nokia is expanding the reach of its Lumia 1020 smartphone to the large Chinese market. The phone took center stage Thursday morning at a launch event held by Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) China’s general manager, Erik Bertman, and several partners, according to blog site Tech in Asia. Noted for its 41-megapixel camera, the Lumia 1020 will sell unlocked for 5,999 yuan ($973). That’s around the same price in China as an unlocked version of the 32GB iPhone, Tech in Asia added. The Lumia 1020 will initially be sold by China Unicom. To help budget-conscious consumers, the carrier will offer the phone at 999 yuan ($163) down and then 386 yuan ($63) over a period of three years, according to WMPoweruser.

Nokia releases Asha SDK in bid to attract developers (PCWorld)
Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) is hoping to boost the number of applications available for the Asha 501 to make it more competitive with low-cost Android smartphones with the release Thursday of the first version of a software development kit (SDK) for the phone. The Finnish phone maker has increasingly focused on software and apps to make the Asha family more attractive, including recently adding a tailored version of its own Here Maps for the 501, as well as a LinkedIn app that can be used by a number of Asha models.
Nokia’s Lumia 625 to Hit UK Carriers August 28 (Tom’s Hardware Guide)
When Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) announced its Lumia 625 in July, the company said we could expect the phone to launch in the United Kingdom in the third quarter. Many automatically assumed that this meant a September release for the Lumia 625. According to SlashGear, Nokia is looking to launch the device at the end of this month. SlashGear cites Nokia as saying the 625 will be on EE, O2, Vodafone, Carphone Warehouse, and Phones4U. Plans will start at £21 per month and those that don’t want a lengthy contract will be able to get the phone contract-free for £179.
