Perhaps the greatest complaint about MyGirlFund is one business practice they share with almost every other social site on the web. During the course of the research for this article, we came across several sites claiming that MyGirlFund is a scam. This is a preposterous statement, and we discovered that only two types of sites claim this: ones looking to drive some traffic to their sites and the ones that are a direct competition to MyGirlFund. In both cases, scam accusations can be safely dismissed.
In the end, the answer to the question whether MyGirlFund is helping college girls pay tuition bills or is it just glorified webcam site depends on the person answering it. The elements of adult entertainment are a large part of MFG, but it can also be said that the site is just a symptom of ever-growing alienation of modern society, but in that case, we can’t deny the fact that it is satisfying an equally ever-growing need for company and human touch of its users. Yes, the relationship they have with girls on the site only exist in cyberspace, but perhaps that is the future of digital environment we live in today. We all have virtual friends we have online and have never met in person. Virtual girlfriends and boyfriends seem like the next logical step. After all, if no laws are broken (and for the record, they aren’t), dealings on MyGirlFund are nobody’s business but its models and users.
