Markets in the U.S closed today with basically with no significant moves in the top positions since morning. But several companies managed to advance and gain notable positions. We have compiled a list of some of the biggest movers on Monday. Highlights from the list include Lufkin Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ:LUFK), JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. (NYSE:JKS), and most significantly J.C. Penney Company Inc. (NYSE:JCP).
First things first, J.C. Penney has had a wild afternoon. Just hours after we pondered the question of a change at the CEO spot, that’s exactly what happened. Ron Johnson, the former Apple Store guru, “is updating his resume after being ousted Monday afternoon following a very brief stint in which he tried to change the retail culture at the company” significantly, according to initial coverage. It’s worth noting that Wall Street’s average price target on J.C. Penney Company Inc. (NYSE:JCP) represents a near parity with current levels, and the stock is down more than 10% after-hours as of this writing.
Lufkin closed as the top gainer on Monday, starting on this position in the morning. The stock ended 37.59% higher at $87.96 in deals worth $11.5 million. The company’s shares price increased on the back of the announcement made by General Electric about acquiring Lufkin Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ:LUFK) for $3.3 billion.
The second-highest gainer on Monday was JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. (NYSE:JKS). The company’s price increased by 20.48% to $5.0 in deals worth $1.1 million. JinkoSolar has announced about an agreement with a solar project developer for delivering 115-megawatts solar panels for two projects in South Africa, Cogo News reported today.
MGT Capital Investments Inc. (NYSEAMEX:MGT) advanced by 20.31% to $3.85 in turnover worth $674,600. MGT Capital Investments Inc. (NYSEAMEX:MGT) holds controlling interests in in Medicsight ltd including its subsidiaries.
Primo Water Corporation (NASDAQ:PRMW) has also made the list with an increase of 19.40% to $1.60 in deals worth $784,700. Primo Water Corporation (NASDAQ:PRMW) produces purified bottled water and water dispensers distributed through retailers.
Sutor Technology Group Ltd. (NASDAQ:SUTR)‘s shares appreciated by 18.06% to $1.70 to $272,700 turnover. Sutor Technology Group Ltd. (NASDAQ:SUTR), a producer of fine finished steel products, has recently announced its Online Product Sample Application Platform, which allows customers to access company’s product information within 24 hours, 4-traders reported.
With a grow of 17.02%, BSD Medical Corporation (NASDAQ:BSDM) is the sixth highest-gainer. The company’s shares closed at $1.65 in turnover worth $1.7 million. BSD Medical Corporation (NASDAQ:BSDM) announced about its long-term exclusive agreement worth several million-dollars with Terumo Europe NV, Meshpress reported. BSD is specialized in markets and services systems for curing cancer.
NII Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:NIHD) surged by 15.51% to $6.33 in deals worth $12.4 million. We already mentioned on Friday, that NII Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:NIHD) is growing after announcing about selling of its Peruvian Operations for $400 million. Since then, NII has been one of the top gainers on the market.
