Chevron settles with state for $5.2M (Albuquerque Business First)
Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) will pay New Mexico $5.2 million under the terms of a new settlement to reimburse the state for payments the company improperly obtained from the state. The company was paid from the New Mexico Corrective Action Fund, which is administered by the Environment Department’s Petroleum Storage Tank Bureau, to clean up sites contaminated by leaking petroleum storage tanks. “This settlement ensures that taxpayer dollars are used properly and for important projects, such as cleaning up the environmental harm caused by leaking petroleum storage tanks,” Gov. Susana Martinez said. “I applaud the efforts of the Environment Department to work with our state partners to obtain this important settlement agreement.”
Cheniere Energy Target of Unusually High Options Trading (LNG) (Zolmax)

Chevron Corrupted Witnesses In $19B RICO Row, Judge Told (Law360)
Defendants in Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX)’s lawsuit over a $19 billion Ecuadorean pollution judgment urged the court Thursday to impose terminating sanctions against Chevron, saying the company repeatedly tried to corrupt witness testimony by compensating for cooperation and attempting to offer a $1 million bribe to a sentencing judge. The motion for sanctions comes just two days after a New York federal judge overseeing the case rejected Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX)’s bid to split the case into two phases, saying the move would create unnecessary redundancy.
