His private investment firm BlueCrest Capital Management surged 153%, becoming one of 2022’s most successful investors, according to a person with knowledge of the matter who asked not to be identified because the details are private. It’s Platt’s biggest gain by far since he returned outside capital in 2016 to focus on managing his own wealth and that of his partners.

Six former executives from GoldPoint Partners LLC have launched a new investment firm, more than a year after their collective departure from the New York Life Insurance Company affiliate. Dextra Partners is formed as an independent, multi-strategy investment firm focused on providing investors with differentiated middle market private equity opportunities, said a media release. Headquartered in New York, the firm specializes in unlocking access to middle-market private equity and has been established with $2.5 billion of investable capital in vehicles managed by Dextra from a select group of strategic partners.

D.E. Shaw & Co., the quant hedge fund founded by the enigmatic David E. Shaw, has released annual accounts for DE Shaw & Co. (London) LLP, its London partnership, and for D.E Shaw & Co. (UK) Ltd, its London limited company. They suggest that working there can be very lucrative indeed. In the year ending March 2022, D.E Shaw & Co. (UK) Ltd. employed 69 people (up from 66 one year previously), who shared a £39m pot for “wages and salaries”. That comes out to £563k ($685k) each.

At B. Riley Financial, a filing with the SEC revealed that on Monday, Director Randall E. Paulson bought 20,000 shares of RILY, for a cost of $37.22 each, for a total investment of $744,346. So far Paulson is in the green, up about 3.3% on their buy based on today’s trading high of $38.46. B. Riley Financial Inc is trading up about 2.9% on the day Tuesday. Before this latest buy, Paulson purchased RILY on 7 other occasions during the past year, for a total cost of $6.05M at an average of $52.18 per share. And also on Monday, Chief Executive Officer Dakota Semler bought $220,278 worth of XOS, buying 250,189 shares at a cost of $0.88 each. This buy marks the first one filed by Semler in the past twelve months. XOS is trading up about 5.6% on the day Tuesday. So far Semler is in the green, up about 23.8% on their buy based on today’s trading high of $1.09.
