2. Marvin Gaye

Tragic beyond belief, Motown’s legend Marvin Gaye was shot to death by his own father on April 1st of 1984. The singer had a difficult relationship with his father, but things escalated quickly when Gaye intervened in an argument between his parents. Stepping to his mother’s defence, he brutally attacked his father, who in return shot him with the .38 pistol his son had given him for Christmas. Marvin Gaye Sr. was arrested and prosecuted by the police, but according to Gaye Jr.’s last words, he had been suicidal for a long time.
