Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), the world’s most famous social media company, is on a hunt to maximize the advertising revenue as it provides an opportunity to small entrepreneurs to learn new ways of internet marketing by starting an “Innovation Lab” in Brazil this week. A Wall Street Journal article reported on the news and discussed about the new lab created by the company in southeast São Paulo.
“Small businesses have basically hacked Facebook for their use… Imagine if more people could know about this? This innovation lab that we’re launching in Heliópolis is a way to bring that knowledge to others,” said Patrick Hruby, Director of Facebook Inc.’s Small and Medium-sized Business Division in Latin America.
The lab has been set up in classroom of a local public school and themed with blue and white colors to represent Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB). It provides small entrepreneurs a free learning on digital marketing, finance and gives knowledge to use the services offered by Facebook. Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) has targeted this area because people of Brazil are one of the world’s top smartphones buyers and the devices are very common even in the areas like Heliópolis.
The mobile technology is improving day by day and 200,000 residents of this region already use Facebook on their devices. It provides a less expensive option for nearly 5,000 businesses in the neighborhood such as beauty shops, bars to reach them through internet. According to Hruby, the business owners have started using social media tools to promote their businesses because they have very less access to other technologies and infrastructure in the region.
Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) has seen a great e-commerce potential in Brazil, as Favelas have a population of more than 11.4 million people and it has also been proven that the small businesses in Brazil use more Facebook’s messaging services for their online buying and selling transactions than in any other areas of the world. By providing knowledge about digital marketing and a place of learning to small business owners in the region, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) can maximize its ads revenue significantly through this opportunity and by promoting the e-commerce activities on the platform.
