Mark Zuckerberg, Chief Executive Officer of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), which is currently on top of the social media world, told Emily Chang on Bloomberg that Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) does not need any operating system, in a reply to her question in which she asked how it could overcome not having Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s Android.
“Our strategy is just to build things that people really want to use and Facebook is the most used app, WhatsApp and Messenger and Instagram are some of the next most used apps that are out there, so at some level I think that as long as we are building services that people really want to use and that help people’s lives, then it’s not as big of a deal […],” Zuckerberg said.
According to the Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) CEO, as long as they are keeping their customers happy and satisfied with the services they provide, they don’t need any operating system. Instead of making an OS, they’ll focus on improving their WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram, which are the next big hits in the social media market. Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) has always listened to its customers’ feedback and improved where even there was a little room for improvement to make its services just right according to its customers’ needs.
“[..] It’s certainly a little bit stressful. We feel like we can maybe help people out more or deliver our services a little bit better if we had more partnerships with the operating systems that we are using to build our stuff but it’s not something that I’m that stressed about at this point because just as long as we stay focused on building our own stuff, I think that’s the right thing for us to stay focused on not worrying about what other people are going to do,” Zuckerberg said.
Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s business focuses on creating value for users, marketers, and developers as it supports the developers to build, grow, and monetize mobile and web applications. Messenger, a mobile-to-mobile messaging application is available on Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhone Operating System (iOS) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s Android phones. Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) keeps on hunting for good opportunities that are available and acquires whatever is beneficial towards bettering the company’s position in the market. As long as people are getting what they need from Facebook Inc and it is providing them with new and interesting things that are not offered by its competitors in the market, it’s true that it does not need any operating system at all.
