Qatar is one of the richest nations in the world, but its lack of a diverse economy means that energy usage in the country is quite high, allowing it to top the list of energy consumption by capita: top 20. Because oil and natural gas production makes up a vast majority of the nation’s GDP, even though its usage of energy is really high, it is able to export most of its production and has made deals with multiple European countries after Russia cut supplies post its invasion of Ukraine.
