The best universities in the world are some schools you’ve probably heard of, like Harvard (no surprise), and others you might not be so familiar with. Insider Monkey will take you through the top 20.
The higher education institution you choose to attend can dramatically impact the course of your career, so this is a decision you have to thoroughly consider. Some students choose a university thousands of miles away, just to make sure that they are getting the best possible education. And who’s to blame them? Your university education can give you the boost you need to create a successful life for yourself.
We would like to present you with a list of 20 highest rated universities across the world, in a style similar to our analysis of how to be a hedge fund manager.
The list was compiled using data provided by Times Higher Education World University Rankings, powered by Reuters. Each university in the ranking received a score, based on several indicators, grouped into 5 categories: teaching, research, international outlook, industry income, and citations.
Universities without undergraduate programs were excluded from the ranking, as well as any higher education institution that only specialized in a single narrow topic.
US students looking for graduate program are probably the luckiest, as 15 out of the 20 best universities in the world are located within US borders. The United Kingdom was the runner-up with 4 top class higher education institutions. Only one university based in a non-English country made it to the countdown: the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.
Curious to see who made it in the countdown of the world’s best universities? Let’s take a look.
