Baupost Group and Seth Klarman Are Fond of Micron Technology, Inc. (MU), Theravance Inc (THRX) & Others

Baupost Group, managed by Seth Klarman, in a new 13F filing, reported the holdings from its equity portfolio for the fourth quarter. The value of its equity portfolio has marginally increased to $3.53 billion from$3.50 billion reported in the previous quarter. We have selected five largest holdings – in terms of value – that Baupost Group has held in its equity portfolio as at the end of the last year. While the order of the companies that make up the top five list has remained unchanged, the values of the positions have been tweaked.

Out of the top-five largest value holdings, the first on the list is Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU), a manufacturer and marketer of semiconductor devices. The position in the stock fell to 51.66 million shares from 64.0 million shares held in the previous quarter. The value of the holding is $1.12 billion.

In a separate filing the Seth Klarman, revealed that it holds 61.66 million shares of Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU), the holding representing 5.83% stake of the company’s common stock.

Second of the top-five companies in Baupost Group’s equity portfolio is Theravance Inc (NASDAQ:THRX), a biopharmaceutical company. The fund increased the position to 20.14 million shares, during the fourth quarter, from 18.51 million shares held earlier, the current value amounts to $718.14 million down from $756.52 million in the previous quarter.

Third on the top-five list is ViaSat, Inc. (NASDAQ:VSAT) 11.13 million shares, valued at $697.24 million. The position was sliced from 11.0 million shares held at the end of the third quarter.

Baupost Group’s fourth-largest holding is BP plc (ADR) (NYSE:BP) with a $275.44 million stake. The fund holds 5.67 million shares, upped from 5.59 million shares at the end of the third quarter.

Baupost Group’s fifth most valuable holding is represented by Idenix Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:IDIX). The stake has been raised to 36.91 million shares valued at $220.73 million, from 29.67 million shares held at the end of the third quarter.

Earlier this month Baupost Group, revealed owning 53.33 million shares of Idenix Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:IDIX).
