Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and its “fanboys” just might be grabbing at what ever piece of news it can find and try to twist like a pretzel into something positive. We admit that the people at MacRumors are a tad biased, but we found this piece interesting – and not in the way the good people at Rumors want us to think.
A new survey by ChangeWave that measured consumer sentiment toward a new Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) product launch revealed that the overall market enthusiasm for a rumored “iWatch” wearable computer is the same as it was before the launch of the iPad. And of course, we all know by now what a game-changing device the iPad was when it came out in the spring of 2010.
The results of the survey showed that about 19 percent of respondents said they were “very likely” or “somewhat likely” to buy an iWatch, if such a device existed and was going to hit store shelves. According to MacRumors, that compares very favorably to similar survey results surrounding the iPad when that survey was taken in January 2010, when 18 percent of respondents stated they were very or somewhat likely to buy the first Apple tablet computer.
Granted, we realize that the iPad came out and has been a huge hit for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and its customers over the last three years. but while the admission is that survey results aren’t necessarily similar – it could be that the iPad was more of a fact than a rumor when the previous survey was done, whereas the iWatch right now is still in rumor stage, and of course the products are very different 0 the results of this survey kicked on the skepticism alarm here.
We just can’t help but wonder – these results tell us that 80 percent of those surveyed were either neutral or had very little interest in buying a new Apple product.

Could be a a sign of Apple fatigue among consumers?
Yes, we know these results are exactly what was discovered in the air pre-iPad, so maybe it bodes well for the future of wearable tech if indeed that is the next product on the horizon. But with the apparent reality of Google Glass ginning up a lot of buzz about its apparent arrival in the wearable tech space and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) not saying much at all about its wearable tech entry, it is hard ot gauge how accurate this could be in measuring consumer enthusiasm. After all, when the iPad came out, it was nearly pioneering the mobile computer space, whereas it appears possible that Apple won’t be the first one out in the wearable tech space, and the consumer focus has seemed to be elsewhere.
What do you think? Based on the current consumer sentiment and buzz around wearable tech right now, would you be encouraged by these results if you were Apple? Do you think the Google Glass hype is affecting any iWatch enthusiasm, and if so, how and by how much? We would love your comments on this below.
