Apple Store Fifth Avenue: This May Hurt Store Sales, At Least Temporarily

Apple Store Fifth Avenue: No matter where you live, there is a good chance that you have an Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Store nearby. This is particularly true if you live in or around a densely populated city in the United States.

However, there is one Apple Store that stands out in the crowd. There is one store that attracts people from all over the world, everyday of the week.

Do you know which one it is? You got it: the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue and 59th Street in Manhattan.

Tim CookAs the company’s flagship store, one that is open 24 hours a day, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) knows just how important it is to consumers.

Unfortunately this morning, disaster struck when a small leak suddenly grew bigger. Soon enough, a wave of water poured into the store scaring everybody inside while also putting millions of dollars in product in jeopardy of being ruined.

Errol Rappaport, a customer who was at the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), shared the following information with the New York Post:

“I was down there at 5:45am because I had trouble backing up my computer and everyone started yelling. There was a leak then–boom–the whole thing opened up out of the ceiling. Then everyone started scrambling, moving tables…It didn’t look like there were any electrical issues otherwise they would have evacuated the store.”

Despite the fact that the Big Apple was hit with heavy rain this morning, it is not the first time the store has been in the midst of a storm. However, this time, around 8 a.m., things quickly took a downward spiral.

Immediately following the flood, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Store workers got to work with the cleanup process, doing their best to remove the water from the store and prevent any damage.

One worker was quoted in the Post as saying:

“It’s because of the construction they did last year on the roof. They didn’t do it right. There are large flat stones up there [that you walk across as you go into the store]. And with the heavy rain this morning, [the water] came through.”

While most of the water was quickly mopped up, there is no word yet on whether or not any of the product sold in the store was damaged. Obviously, this would be a big blow to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s flagship store as it receives a good amount of traffic everyday of the week, around the clock.
