Apple Inc (AAPL): Tim Cook Named ‘Most Powerful’ in Wireless

Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) is perhaps the largest, most influential, most powerful tech company in the world, so doesn’t it make sense that such a company would have one of the most powerful people in the industry? One tech Web site  has revealed its annual list of influential techies, and seeing the Apple CEO on the list should not be a news flash. Certainly it may not be for investors like billionaire fund manager David Einhorn of Greenlight Capital.

FierceWireless publishes its list of the 25 Most Powerful People in the Wireless Industry every year, and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO Tim Cook was at the top of the list this time around. “Tim Cook heads the world’s most valuable tech company,” FierceWireless wrote. “It should come as no surprise then that Cook wields enormous power in the wireless industry. … Cook’s power, as directed through the iPhone and iPad, translates into tremendous mindshare among US smartphone users and intense customer loyalty. What this means is that Cook’s every decision with the iPhone, and Apple’s wireless business in general, can have an enormous impact on the market.”

Being the most powerful didn’t come without its share of challenges, of course. Cook has overseen some supply-chain issues involving several of its devices, plus just last month his executive team was rattled with the removals of Apple (AAPL) retail chief John Browett and iOS head Scott Forstall. But of course Cook is not the only CEO on the list – Larry Page, CEO of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) were also on the list.
