Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN)’s Holy War Will Only End in Blood Shed: James Patterson

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) might have woken up the wrong bear as it extended its price war to the Hachette Book Group, or more specifically the writers of the publishing company. James Patterson, who is one of such prolific writers, revealed in an interview on Bloomberg that Amazon is attempting to pollute the sacrosanct profession of writing.

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)

Patterson made the dispute involving Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) sound like a Crusade, a holy war that his fellow writers are ready to lay their lives for. If someone wants to see an example of the likeness between a pen and a sword, it doesn’t get closer than this in recent times.

“[…] Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) in attacking writers has created a religious war. Writers are religious about books and they will take the punches, they will take the blows and they will use whatever they have to use. They will not let books get hurt in this country […],” said Patterson.

A pertinent question is, what exactly these writers have in their arsenal that make them such a potent threat to Amazon. Poking their pens in the chest of Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)’s CEO is certainly not going to get the job done. When faced with this question, Patterson threatened with a ban. He was then asked if that notion was popular with other writers too?

“[…] It has come up with a lot of writers. I mean yeah we could just say, you know, one, we could just take all our books off from Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)[…],” explained Patterson.

It’s not only the writers of Hachette Book Group that Patterson hinted at when he was talking about the ban. It’s the whole band of his fellow writers including names like Stephan King, John Grisham and Philip Roth.
